In the Age of AI, It’s Still All About People
AI is accelerating everything, but what truly keeps startups alive is human interaction. A founder reflection on tough weeks and meaningful connections.

Wearing Too Many Hats
The past few weeks have been heavy.
Too many hats. Founder, product manager, sales, support, compliance, operations. Switching context constantly. Trying to keep everything moving forward at the same time.
At moments, it feels almost impossible.
And yet, we keep going. Unstoppable.
Why? Because of the Unexpected Energy Source
If you would ask me what keeps the engine running, it’s not technology. It’s people.
This week alone proved it again.
A Few Days That Say Everything
This morning, we onboarded a new customer here in Belgium.
Everything went smoothly at first. Account created. Mailbox connected.
Then we hit a wall.
Not enough rights to proceed. Administrator approval required.
And honestly, that was a good sign.
Because it means they take things seriously. You don’t just plug in AI into a company mailbox without thinking. Security matters. Governance matters.
So we paused.
Their Microsoft partner, Wouter, joined the conversation. He knew exactly what he was doing. No noise, no confusion. Just clarity. The setup got fixed quickly.
And then something interesting happened.
Wouter’s company wants to become a reseller.
This afternoon, I met Finaes, founder of a security startup, AISafe.
Smart guy. Sharp thinking. Good conversation. One of those meetings where you just feel it: this is going somewhere. We’ll work together.
And in the evening, the confirmation: let's do this!
That’s how fast things can move when the right people are involved.
Progress Behind the Scenes
Yesterday, I had a meeting with Raul from Sprinto.
We’ve been working hard on ISO, SOC 2, and GDPR compliance. It’s not the most visible part of building a startup, but it’s critical.
And the news was good.
We’re almost ready.
Audit planned for the beginning of May.
That moment felt important. Not because of the certification itself, but because it’s a signal. We’re building something serious. Something that can be trusted.
In that same meeting, Egor and Bohdan were there.
Both students from KdG University, where I teach and official interns at ReplyFabric.
Curious. Motivated. Eager to learn. Asking the right questions.
That energy is contagious.
Startups Are Not Linear
People sometimes think startups follow a clean plan.
They don’t.
Not at this stage.
You don’t have a perfect roadmap for the next 12 months. You have direction, yes. But the real path is shaped day by day, interaction by interaction.
A meeting leads to a partnership.
A problem leads to a better setup.
A student becomes part of the journey.
That was just two days this week.
The Real Infrastructure
We talk a lot about AI.
Models. Tokens. Accuracy. Performance. Pricing.
And yes, all of that matters.
But none of it works without the real infrastructure underneath.
People.
The founder you meet and instantly align with.
The customer who trusts you enough to onboard.
The partner who solves problems instead of creating them.
The advisor who helps you navigate complexity.
The young talent bringing fresh energy into the room.
Why We Keep Going
When things get heavy, technology doesn’t pull you through.
People do.
That conversation that clicks.
That onboarding that turns into a partnership.
That moment where you realize: we’re making progress.
That’s what keeps you going.
In the end, in times of AI, it’s still all about people.
